There’s still time to find your Valentine with this sweet event curated with people of color in mind. Hy-Lo News and We Met in Miami are partnering with Exquisito Chocolates to host the “Hot Cocoa” Singles Mixer, a chocolate factory tour and tasting experience designed to help singles of color connect in an intentional, inclusive and culturally affirming space. The event, which aims to celebrate “Black Love,” takes place Saturday, Feb. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Exquisito Chocolates in Little Havana.
Heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) singles ages 25 to 45 are invited to explore, savor and socialize during the curated experience, which blends food, storytelling and community-building. Tickets are sold by gender to promote balance and inclusivity among attendees, creating a welcoming environment where meaningful connections can happen naturally.
Each ticket includes a 45-minute guided factory tour of Exquisito Chocolates, offering guests a behind-the-scenes look at how artisan chocolate is crafted from bean to bar. Attendees will also enjoy an artisan chocolate tasting featuring handcrafted bon bons and gourmet selections made in-house. Following the tour and tasting, guests will take part in a curated singles mixer designed specifically for BIPOC attendees seeking friendship, romance or expanded social circles.
The experience also includes a matching system to help participants reconnect with people they feel a spark with after the event, adding a thoughtful layer to the evening beyond casual networking.
Exquisito Chocolates, Miami’s first chocolate factory, is a woman-owned, sustainable, farm-to-table business known for producing premium bon bons, chocolate bars, ice cream, beverages and other confections. Located at 1920 SW 8th St. in Little Havana, the space serves as both a production facility and a retail destination, highlighting ethical sourcing and craftsmanship.
The event is produced in collaboration with We Met Community Connection, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing loneliness and helping adults 21 and older build love, friendship and community. We Met in Miami, launched in 2024, is the organization’s first local chapter and focuses on creating curated social experiences that foster real-world connection.
Hy-Lo News, an alternative local news organization founded in 2015, is co-hosting the event as part of its ongoing mission to engage Black and Brown Millennials in South Florida both online and in person. The outlet centers community storytelling, access to information and meaningful civic and cultural experiences.
Parking is available along SW 8th Street and in a garage located behind the building. Tickets are limited, and attendees are encouraged to purchase in advance.
