Pharrell Williams’ Black Ambition Prize Competition Announced 2025 Winners at 5th Annual Demo Day

Innovation, culture, and community collided in Miami as Black Ambition hosted its 5th Annual Demo Day and Fundable Founders Forum at The Sacred Space Miami on Nov. 14–15, spotlighting entrepreneurs reshaping the future of business and social impact.

The two-day gathering brought together more than 350 attendees — including investors, cultural leaders, and emerging founders — for programming focused on mentorship, access, and capital for underrepresented entrepreneurs across the country.

Founded by Pharrell Williams in 2020, Black Ambition has grown into a nationally recognized launchpad for diverse innovators. This year’s theme, “Celebrating Innovation, Impact, and Ambition,” underscored that mission.

Pharrell Reflects on 5-Year Milestone

A highlight of Demo Day was a fireside chat with Pharrell Williams and Ariel Investments Co-CEO Mellody Hobson, where the musician and mogul spoke on Black Ambition’s mission to shift opportunity for underestimated founders.

“After five years, I look at Black Ambition as my way of paying back and paying forward what I have been blessed to achieve,” Williams said in a press statement. “These founders have proven what happens when we invest in excellence and push beyond what we’ve been trained to believe about work, value, and ownership.”

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also presented Williams with the Key to the County and issued a proclamation honoring Black Ambition’s continued impact.

Big Wins, Big Energy

Comedian Jay Pharoah hosted Demo Day, which featured eight founders sharing their entrepreneurial journeys and how the accelerator helped shape their growth. The crowd erupted later in the evening when Chance the Rapper delivered a surprise performance.

Two founders walked away with the event’s top honors:

  • UFarmX — an AI-powered agri-fintech platform — named a $100,000 Co-Grand Prize Winner
  • Sula Labs — a science-driven beauty innovation venture — named a $100,000 Co-Grand Prize Winner

Both founders said the recognition was bigger than the check.

“Being honored, supported, and poured into by people that look like me… means everything,” said UFarmX founder Alexander Zanders.

“The win is a symbol that our work to close inclusivity gaps in cosmetics and personal care has real scale,” added Sula Labs founder AJ Addae.

Overall, 27 finalists took the stage, representing industries from AI and fintech to food, fashion, agriculture, and wellness.

Founders Forum Expands the Conversation

Day Two continued the momentum with the Fundable Founders Forum, where investors and entrepreneurs gathered for masterclasses, mentorship, and deeper dialogue on scale and ownership.

A fireside chat with UnitedMasters CEO Steve Stoute, moderated by Black Ambition CEO Felecia Hatcher, emphasized the urgency of access and infrastructure for underestimated founders.

“You can honor your culture and dominate an industry,” Hatcher said in a press statement. “Five years prove our impact is real, but the future demands more — more scale, more courage, and more investment.”

The event opened space for Miami-based founders to plug into the national ecosystem and connect with brand partners including Adidas, Visa, Louis Vuitton, Lennar Foundation, the Black Professionals Network, and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

A Growing Legacy

Out of 2,500+ applicants nationwide, the 2025 finalists reflect Black Ambition’s commitment to expanding opportunities across industries and identities. Since its launch, the organization has:

  • Supported 28,000+ entrepreneurs
  • Mentored 1,175+ founders through its accelerator
  • Awarded $14 million in capital
  • Helped companies generate $348 million in revenue

As Black Ambition looks toward its next cohort, leaders say the goal remains the same: building pathways to generational wealth in long-underserved communities.
