The holiday season is kicking off with a dose of culture, connection, and community pride as Miami Central Station’s Black family-owned Starbucks prepares to host its first-ever Holiday Sip & Shine event on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The free community celebration, happening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Station Starbucks (350 NW 1st Ave), is powered by Concessions International, LLC (CI) — the multi-generational, Black-owned company behind the location — and led by Kylie Russell of the prominent Russell family.
The Russells, who operate the Miami Central Station franchise, have built a national legacy in food, beverage, and airport concessions. Their hands-on approach to business also extends to community investment. Kylie Russell’s leadership of the event reflects the family’s commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces across Miami.
“This event isn’t just about holiday cheer — it’s about supporting the neighborhoods where we live and work,” Russell said. “We want this Starbucks to be a gathering place that uplifts families, young professionals, and anyone who calls downtown home.”
The inaugural Sip & Shine aims to bring renewed energy and foot traffic to a key downtown corridor while spotlighting local entrepreneurship. Adding to its cultural impact, the event is produced in collaboration with two Black women-owned firms — Priceless One Management and AOI Events & PR — with support from the Miami Downtown Development Authority.
City leaders, including Commissioner Ralph “Rafael” Rosado (District 4) and Commissioner Damian Pardo (District 2), are expected to attend to show support for the growing community activity in the area.
