As National Wellness Week (September 15th-21st) comes to a close, I would like to share a heartfelt reminder: wellness and self-love are not just a one-week celebration. As someone who’s passionate about self-love and self-care, I believe these practices should be a daily, year round journey for everyone.
In my own experience, and through my book Becoming Me: 10 Ways to Affirm Self-Love, I’ve seen how important it is to weave self-love into our everyday lives. Self-love isn’t just about taking a spa day now and then; it’s about building a nurturing relationship with yourself that lasts all year long.
As you go through this Wellness Week, think of it as a starting point rather than a finish line. Each day, find small ways to honor your needs, whether that’s speaking a positive affirmation, setting healthy boundaries, or simply giving yourself a moment of rest.
For both women and men, these daily acts of self-love are the true essence of wellness. And if you’re looking for a resource to guide you, check out my book Becoming Me, which offers practical steps to keep that self-love alive long after the weekend.
So, let’s make a promise to ourselves: to embrace wellness not just for a week, but as a lifelong journey because you deserve to feel loved, whole, and well every single day.
5 Ways to Start Your Self-Love and Wellness Journey
- Start Your Day with Affirmations: Speak life into yourself each morning. A simple phrase like, “I am enough as I am, and I choose to honor myself today,” can shift your mindset for the entire day.
- Set Boundaries Without Guilt: Wellness begins where stress ends. Learn to say no to things that drain you and yes to things that serve your peace, even if that means disappointing others. “NO” is a complete sentence!
- Prioritize Movement and Rest: Whether it’s a walk, stretching, dancing in your living room, or simply taking a nap, your body needs both activity and recovery to stay balanced.
- Practice Financial Self-Care: Track your spending, plan your budget, and treat financial awareness as an act of self-love. Money is a tool, and when managed wisely, it reduces stress and builds confidence.
- Connect with Community: Healing and growth don’t happen in isolation. Surround yourself with people and spaces that remind you of your worth and uplift you when life gets heavy.
