The Museum of Graffiti is spotlighting Miami-based artist Weerdo in a new solo exhibition, Signs of the Times, open now through November 7, 2025, at its Wynwood location.
The exhibition highlights Weerdo’s raw visual language and deep cultural roots, centering on themes of migration, resistance, and Mexican identity. At the heart of the show is a collection of pieces painted on reclaimed street signs—objects once meant to control or direct, now transformed into symbols of protest, heritage, and reclaimed space.
Alongside these works, visitors will see a range of art from throughout Weerdo’s career, including early paintings, mixed media pieces on canvas and paper, and a new site-specific installation. His bold style-writing is layered with cultural symbolism such as feathers, skulls, snakes, and pyramids, blending ancestral memory with contemporary urban life.
Museum curator Alan Ket said Weerdo’s work offers a critical counter-narrative at a time when immigrants, particularly of Mexican and Latin American descent, face harmful stereotypes and rhetoric.
“Through his art, he offers a counter-story—one rooted in sacrifice, culture, and unrelenting presence,” Ket said in a press statement. “Hosting Weerdo and showcasing his art flips the government’s narrative on its head and reminds us of the great history of Mexico and its artists.”
Signs of the Times ultimately serves as both a reflection and a call to action, inviting audiences to consider the sacrifices behind visibility and identity. By working with the language of graffiti and materials of the street, Weerdo bridges past and present while affirming the resilience and dignity of Mexican culture.
The exhibition runs through November 7, 2025, at the Museum of Graffiti, located at 276 NW 26th St. in Wynwood.
