Miami Northwestern Alumni Prepare for 3rd Annual Bulls Kick-Off Classic to Support Future Graduates

The Miami Northwestern Alumni Association is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Bulls Kick-Off Classic, a community-driven sports tournament aimed at raising scholarship funds for graduating seniors of Miami Northwestern Senior High School (MNW). The event will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Partners Park in Miami at 11am.

The Bulls Kick-Off Classic, formerly known as the Miami Northwestern Alumni Sports Tournament, brings together alumni and community members to celebrate school spirit while making a tangible impact on students’ futures. This year’s goal is to raise $10,000, which will go toward six scholarships for the Class of 2026.

“The Bulls Kick-Off Classic is more than a tournament—it’s a movement,” said Shakedria Mathis, Class of 2003 Alumni President. “We unite to transform school spirit into lasting impact.”

Since its inception, the event has helped fund scholarships for MNW graduates pursuing higher education. Past recipients include:

  • Class of 2023: Tavaris Taylor Jr. – $1,000 (Jackson State University) – John P. Kent Scholarship
  • Class of 2024: Arnasia Foster – $2,000 (University of Florida); Leila Finnie – $1,000 (University of South Florida)
  • Class of 2025: Two scholarships to be awarded
  • Class of 2026: Six scholarships will be awarded upon reaching the $10,000 goal

Each class is encouraged to raise a minimum of $500, and contributions of $1,000 or more will qualify teams as top-class donors. The 2025 event is expected to be the largest yet, with increased alumni participation and growing community support.
