Representative Chambliss Recognized By the Florida State University SGA for His Dedication to Student Success

Wednesday night, Representative Chambliss (D-Homestead), and other Legislators, received the Seminole Spirit Award from the Florida State University Student Government Association for his dedication to relieve financial burdens from Florida’s university students. Florida State University’s SGA specifically recognized Representative Chambliss for filing HB 1667, a bill which, if passed, will provide Florida Academic Scholars with an additional $300 textbook stipend per fall and spring semesters.

According to a survey done by the Florida Virtual Campus, about a quarter of all students have dropped a course because they were unable to afford the required textbook.

“My sincerest thanks go to Florida State University’s Student Government Association for their dedication to student success, and for realizing the positive impact a textbook stipend will have on our university students,” said Representative Chambliss.
