The Miami-based TV series ran for two seasons.
It looks like Shawna and Mia’s seducing and scheming has come to an end.
Max has yet again canceled another show and this time “Rap Sh!t” got the axe. The Miami-based scripted comedy series executively produced by Issa Rae has reportedly gotten the chop by the network after just two seasons.
“We are extremely grateful to Issa Rae for creating Rap Sh!t, a one-of-a-kind comedy with compelling social commentary that reached viewers in a way only Issa’s talents can accomplish,” a Max spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “A huge thank you to Issa, showrunner Syreeta Singleton and the teams at Hoorae and 3 Arts Entertainment for introducing us to Shawna and Mia, a duo whose journey fans have been invested in and who they have continued to root for through everything. We’ll never get Seduce and Scheme out of our heads and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Rap Sh!t tells the story of two estranged high school friends from the inner city of Miami, Shawn (@shutupaida) and Mia (@itskamillion), who form a rap group hoping to make it in the music industry. The inspiration for the characters was loosely based off of the lives of The City Girls, who also served as executive producers on the show.
Rap Sh!t is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 100 percent score among critics. Viewers, however, aren’t as high on the comedy as the show sits with a 65 percent rating.
It now joins Sweet Life: LA (another Issa Rae produced series) on the list of Max shows that got the axe after just two seasons.
