Juice Defined has brought something new to Opa-locka — a full-service juice bar. Located at 854 Ali Baba Avenue, owner Fathiyyah Doster began juicing for herself and realized that this gem had to be shared with her community.
After almost losing her life to preeclampsia and kidney failure, she decided to make some lifestyle changes, starting with her diet. She searched for places near her with healthy options, only to find none. After juicing for herself and seeing the amazing results, it became her mission to share this message of juicing with everyone in her community. In late August, the entrepreneur opened a juice bar to share her passion of juicing.
According to the US Census, over 41% of Opa-locka’s residents are living in poverty and according to MDEAT, Opa-locka is listed as a Targeted Urban Area (TUA) where there are critical issues affecting these areas economically.
“It is for this reason that I am committed to doing all I can to educate my community about not only making dietary changes, but changing their mindset about what they consume,” said Doster in a release about wanting to be a positive influence in the Opa-locka community.
At Juice Defined, their mission is to create access to healthier options by providing a community based, holistic approach to wellness. They aim to be an honest, holistic, healthy hub for the city of Opa-locka and the North Dade area, creating a safe space for the residents to feel empowered and encouraged to make healthier choices.
“We are the only full service ‘raw, fresh & cold press’ juice bar in Opa-locka and the surrounding areas,” said Doster. “We not only serve cold pressed juices, smoothies and smoothie bowls, but host a number of educational masterclasses, demonstrations, workshops and therapeutic events to assist in the transformational wellness journeys of our community.”
They are now open to serve the community operating Sunday-Thursday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Juice Defined invites everyone to join them for samples of their “Juice Of The Month” every Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. -2 p.m.
