Tavaris Williams started the LightHouse of Alms, Inc. non-profit organization, 501(c)3, as a commitment to work with residents and organizations to make measurable, sustainable improvements to his community and individuals. The Miami Gardens resident does most of his community engagement in the area as well as surrounding communities, including Overtown. His work includes mentoring young men, community clean events as well as hosting a quarterly forum at North-Dade Regional Library that discusses ways to stay involved and to improve the community. He has partnered with the Lupus Foundation, Diabetes Foundations, Project H.O.P.E., Red Kangaroo and Urban Peace Project.
