Chris Davis, a native of Miami, Florida, is a community organizer for the Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation and he’s been one of the leading forces behind the continued redevelopment of the Magnolia North community in Opa-locka, formerly known as “the Triangle.” Chris is a 2006 graduate of Miami Carol City Senior High School. He went on to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology and his Masters in Public Administration. He is currently pursuing a second Masters degree in Non-Profit Management at Florida Atlantic University. Mentored by Former Mayor of Opa-locka and state legislature Willie Logan, Chris continues to work closely with residents within the city to accomplish community driven projects. Chris successfully organized the tenants of the Gardens apartments also known as the “Back Blues” for a tenants association, he has planned dozens of community focused events & meetings and he sits on the Opa-locka Zoning Board. In 2014, Chris was invited to the White House to advocate on behalf of President Obama’s Brothers Keeper Initiative along with 30 other AmeriCorps Alum. He also has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for his work in developing the only park in the Magnolia North neighborhood by the American Planning Association for Grassroots Initiative in 2013 and 2014.
