Watch out Cold Stone and Ben & Jerry’s: Ice Cream Heaven CEO Aims to Make Her Black-Owned Ice Cream Business a Global Brand

Hy-Lo News Lifestyle Columnist, Tiffannie Ramos, sat down with Ice Cream Heaven CEO, Shannon Thomas, and got to know the boss lady more as she shared her goals for her ice cream company.

Miami Garden’s newest ice cream shop owner, Mrs. Shannon Thomas, is an experienced, successful entrepreneur who aims to be the queen of frozen treats, with the opening of Ice Cream Heaven.

Although she’s no stranger to business, this is her first venture with a brick-and-mortar location. The shop was previously opened under different ownership. When asked what made her take over this neighborhood staple, Shannon said explained her strong connection to the brand.

“Ice Cream Heaven was my favorite shop and I frequented it often, so I felt very passionate and convicted when the opportunity came to me,” said Thomas, who bought the business in January.

She is determined to restore the love and fun that the shop has brought to the community and looks forward to elevating the customers’ experience when they walk through the doors.

Thomas is starting with this single location but shared that it doesn’t stop there as she wants to scale the brand to become a worldwide franchise.

“Ice Cream Heaven will be global, it will have franchises,” said Thomas. She’ll begin looking to open up several more locations in the South Florida market and then plans to expand to different states.

Thomas has set a goal for herself to build and grow the Ice Cream Heaven brand. This boss babe has set very high goals for the company and I’m very excited to see it. She prides herself on providing opportunities to the youth in the workforce as she hires teens from the community to work for the company. Thomas said she is extremely passionate about training and teaching the youth so they can learn about business.

Ice Cream Heaven serves gourmet, handcrafted ice cream and sweet treats including milkshakes and smoothies, and prides itself on providing quality and delicious products for everyone.

Shannon is a certified chef and she places major emphasis on flavors and yall from my tastings they are on point. When you stop by the shop, try Shannon’s favorite ice cream flavor which is banana pudding. I sampled this during my time there and it certainly has all of the flavors and familiarities of a southern treat, with just enough mixture of pudding and cookies. They understood the assignment and I certainly understood why it’s a favorite.

Ice Cream Heaven plans to host events in the near future that will include Sunday brunches and a Throwback Thursdays mixer.

I’m excited to see the growth and advancement of this Black Owned Business and wish Shannon and her team all the best. When you stop by tell them Tiffannie from Hy-Lo News sent you.
