DJ Shelly Rockstar in association with local business BodyLove by Myioshi announced today that they have proclaimed June 1st “National Black Girl Appreciation Day” and to celebrate, they have partnered to host what they are calling – “The Ultimate Black Girl Beach Party.” The event, to be held on Saturday, June 1st, will span two Hollywood locations and feature a wide variety of activities and posh amenities. The intention is to promote self-love, self-care and body positivity.
In Shelly Rockstar’s words, “It’s time that as Black women we celebrate ourselves, and say to a world where we are often invisible or exploited- we do matter, we are beautiful, we have magic and yes, we do rock!”
Shavon Brown-Robinson of BodyLove By Myioshi says that she got involved because she likes that the event “gives Black women the chance to activate their own self care, on their terms.” Attendees can relax in villa cabanas while enjoying the 80 in television screen, luxuriate in the hot tub and sauna, or enjoy the scheduled activities. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and VIP ticket holders will also enjoy a seafood buffet and open bar. Non-seafood and vegetarian option will be available.
DJ Shelly Rockstar promises “a day full of music and dancing and lots of fun contests” including a hula hoop contest, a scavenger hunt with a cash prize for the winner, and what she hopes will be “The World’s Largest Wobble Line.” Bossy Media will be sponsoring a “Summer Swimwear Showcase” featuring body-positive outfits, and BodyLove By Myioshi is sponsoring a “Beach Beauty Boutique” for Black women who want to pamper themselves in the spirit of self love and self-care.
Would-be party goers who aren’t Black women shouldn’t feel left out though, Shelly says, “this is a celebration of Black women and those who love them, so everybody come on out an honor that influential Black girl in your life! Grab your bestie, your mom, aunt, sister and cousin. Get your homegirl, co-worker or crush. All are welcome to experience the Ultimate Black Girl Beach Party.”
Check In for the Ultimate Black Girl Beach Party will be at Villa Sinclair Beach Suites and Spa located at 317 Polk St, Hollywood, FL. The main celebration area will be beach side in front of the Red Pelican Bar & Hooka Lounge at 230 North Broadwalk
