She’s been silent, but she’s been working

Hello loves! I know I’ve been MIA, but I’ve actually been working on getting better at my craft, making partnerships and generating avenues to get more exposure for the blog. Hy-Lo News can’t have the effect it needs if only a small amount of people read it. I intend for this blog to be the spot where African American millennials can stay informed and engaged with what happening and who’s popping in their own back yard. So continue to like and comment on posts on the Facebook page, tell friends to like the Facebook page, visit the site and PLEASE KEEP PITCHING STORIES!

So what have I been doing?

The work I’ve been doing is for the Miami Times, which is the largest black newspaper in the Southeast. Working with them has been great and it’s allowed me to further improve as a writer and journalist.  Also I’ve made a number of partnerships (that I can’t name right now because details are being finalized) but know that it will allow this blog to grow and expand. We are excited about that! And recently I was added to a super cool super exclusive group on Facebook called Media Bloggers,  that connects journalist who blog. The group is facilitated by WPLG’s anchor, Constance Jones,  and includes media professionals from across the country. I’m honored to be among them.

Thanks for following me on this journey.  I’ll also be posting about the Revolt music conference happening this weekend.  I’ve been covering it for the newspaper all week. I’ll let my South Florida loves who aspire to be in the entertainment industry if this conference is actually worth their time.
